I grew up in northwest Indiana, in the shadow of the beautiful Chicago skyline. I've lived in Bloomington Indiana while attending Indiana University, Chicago during the early part of my working career, and now Madison Wisconsin for the past 30 years. I grew up in northwest Indiana, in the shadow of the beautiful Chicago skyline. I've lived in Bloomington Indiana while attending Indiana University, Chicago during the early part of my working career, and now Madison Wisconsin for the past 30 years. I've painted as a pastime at various times throughout my life, but it became especially important to me after I had my left index finger and part of my hand removed in 2019 due to a cancerous tumor. And of course I'm lefthanded! I decided to use this unforeseen obstacle as a source of inspiration, creative energy, and whimsical humor to creat abstract art . So, I'm not merely "Jimmy with four fingers"...

I paint abstract art almost exclusively because I love the feeling of spontaneous creativity, where as an artist I can produce something interesting and imaginative in the moment. I rarely start out with a specific concept and I just allow my mood and internal thoughts to develop the imagery as I go. I use abundant color, random brushstro
I paint abstract art almost exclusively because I love the feeling of spontaneous creativity, where as an artist I can produce something interesting and imaginative in the moment. I rarely start out with a specific concept and I just allow my mood and internal thoughts to develop the imagery as I go. I use abundant color, random brushstrokes, and quirky shapes in my artwork. I typically use acrylics and finish off my paintings with some strokes of ink on top of the paint. My main goal as an artist is to show and promote my abstract art so that people can enjoy what I do. As an abstract artist, I aspire to create uniquely original and emotive paintings that people appreciate.
